As part of the Moroccan-Spanish cooperation, the Moroccan Agency for Energy Efficiency (AMEE) won the prestigious 'Energy Efficiency Government Initiative and Leadership Excellence Award 2023', on the occasion of the Retrofit Tech Summit & Awards in the MENA region, for the 'Support program for the improvement of living conditions and service provision in social establishments' implemented with the Andalusian Agency for International Development Cooperation (AACID) and the Junta de Andalucía ( Spain)."A prize for the most innovative and successful initiatives in energy efficiency and renovation," said the AMEE in a press release.Recall that Retrofit Tech is the most important platform for key players in the energy efficiency, sustainability and renovation sectors in the MENA region.

This Award of Excellence for the government's initiative and leadership in energy efficiency recognizes the efforts of the Program which contributes to the rational use of energy in social establishments, to the improvement of schooling conditions for students and the working conditions of national education and health personnel in the northern provinces of Morocco.

Thus, the AMEE specifies the specific objectives of this project which aims to promote access to domestic hot water for rural public health centers, through the installation of solar systems for heating domestic water, improving and the conditions for the delivery of health care.

It also involves improving schooling and working conditions in schools in rural areas, through electrification by photovoltaic solar systems, and the establishment of sustainable and quality energy services, while contributing the sustainability of these services.This project is based on participatory management methods, involving the Department of Education and the provincial delegations, with the aim of ensuring the availability of technical and financial means for the upkeep, maintenance, renewal of the components of these systems and possibly the extension of services.

It also aims to optimize energy consumption in public establishments (boarding schools, retirement homes, child protection centers, educational centers, maternity services), through the installation of solar collectors, for water heating. sanitary facilities, as well as a large stock of low-consumption lamps.

This project will also make it possible to optimize the management of energy consumption at the level of the beneficiary establishments, by carrying out energy diagnoses, drawing up reports and recommendations.

The preservation of the quality and technical performance of the equipment will be guaranteed by the implementation of rigorous technical monitoring, and the training of technical personnel responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of energy services and equipment.

The project also provides support in terms of communication and information to the citizen, through the implementation of an integrated and permanent communication and information plan, with the beneficiary populations.
